An auto accident may adversely effect your insurance rates and thus it is imperative that you make the correct choices. Depending on the type of accident, a court appearance may be required. Having an attorney by your side in court may help you understand the process and result in a favorable verdict.

Even simple accidents can have a large impact on your life. You may be entitled to compensation for missed work, medical bills or injuries that result in pain or disability. All personal injury & wrongful death cases are accepted on a contingency basis- meaning, if we don’t collect money on your behalf, we don’t charge you a penny. Simply put- if we don’t win, we don’t get paid.

Florida is a comparative-fault state, which means that if you partially contributed to an accident, you could potentially still have a case against the main at fault party. Meaning, you may be able to obtain compensation even though you were partially at fault for the accident.

When deciding how to deal with your traffic citation/ticket, keep the following in mind:

  1. The only ways to avoid points on your license are to elect and complete defensive driving school, or successfully contest your citation/ticket in court.
  2. You are only eligible to elect driving school once every 12 months.
  3. Do you have time to miss work in order to represent yourself? In Gainesville/Alachua County you may have to appear twice if you are representing yourself.
  4. You can save your available driving school elections and avoid spending several hours in class, possible missing work or school, by electing to contest your citation/ticket.
  5. If you received a citation/ticket in Florida but you have an out of state driver’s license, attending traffic school would be extremely inconvenient.
  6. If you choose simply to pay your citation/ticket, your payment will be considered a guilty plea and points will automatically be assessed on your license.
  7. If you are from out of state, any points you receive will likely be transferred back to your home state
  8. Sometimes criminal charges arise out of traffic incidents and you may wish to consult with a trained attorney about how to deal with a criminal traffic citation/ticket.
